DIET MYTHS: PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE HEALTHIER THAN THEY REALLY ARE

People think that if they “workout” for an hour 4-5 times a week they are “healthy”. However, exercising is not something you just “check off your list”. There are many factors that are vital to ensure that you get a high-quality workout, such as:

  1. Intensity: Do you truly workout at a level of 80%, in your target heart rate?
  2. Endurance: To you train for gaining endurance or do you “mindlessly walk on a treadmill”.
  3. Duration: How long you train is just is as important as how you train. You must at least get 40 minutes of solid cardio at your peak level.
  4. High Interval Intensity Training, aka H.I.I.T. is the best method of working out to gain endurance, stamina, energy, and to feel like an athlete. Many wearing tracking devices just look at “steps”, not how many times they spiked up their heart rate. Yes, steps are good, however getting into your fat-burning zone will always trump how many steps you take.
  5. Weight Training is also very hard to “track” or measure on a wearable tracking fitness device, that again focuses on steps taken. With my experience in the fitness industry, weight training must be approached as a “science”, as one must not over train each muscle group, however each muscle group must be trained for it to grow stronger.
  6. Remember, fitness is 80% nutrition, and 20% exercise. So, your wearable tracking device may “tell” you that you are healthy, but in all reality, one’s nutrition may be off, thus one is not progressing, but regressing in reaching their fitness goals.
  7. Abs are made in the kitchen! When my clients tell me “well, I worked out 5 times this week, but I’m still not losing weight, and I can’t see my abdominal muscles”, I ask them about their meal plans, which again exposes why exactly they are not losing weight.
  8. “You can’t out train your diet”. Someone may “think they are healthy” because they check off their list that they went to the gym 5 times for the week, but then they eat and drink empty calories, such as a plate of nachos and drink alcohol, which actually puts undue stress on the entire body, because the body must break down the alcohol, which has virtually no nutritional value, and may cause some to over eat.
  9. Train Insane or Remain the Same. I see it repeatedly, those working out, taking selfies, talking, networking, hanging out, checking their phones. Yes, they spent an hour in the gym, but not working out. You must focus on your workout, and nothing else. Train with focus and intensity. Leave the selfies, talking and hanging out for later.
  10. As you can see on social media, it seems like many are now fitness enthusiasts. But they are like a “gerbil on a wheel” going no where fast, as their body never transforms, never changes, and just stays the same. You see, there are many factors other than just working out that can cause someone not to see results, such as:

A sluggish metabolism

A “jet-lagged” thyroid

Not enough sleep

Eating late at night

Slow fat burning furnace

Stores fat easily

Highly toxic body composition

Stress

Congested Lymphatic System

I hope this is good enough!
Many talking points here!

I’m excited!

Talk soon and have a great night!
